Laser Cutting

High speed, quality and design flexibility

Get in touch

As a contract manufacturer, If you can imagine it, we can fabricate it. We provide some of the most innovative, accurate and precise laser cutting techniques in the industry today.

Our Amada, Farley, G-weike and Hankwang lasers have the capacity to laser cut a broad range of materials and the ability to cut up to 25mm steel plate. Material options include aluminium, copper and brass.

Our laser cutting technology combined with our CAD design packages, AI-driven best-in-class nesting software and our years of expertise allows us to efficiently meet your specific requirements to a very high quality standard. It's this end-to-end capability that provides a quick turn around time and a higher yield of parts per sheet to help lower your cost and provide a service that you can rely on.

What to expect

At ANCA Manufacturing Solutions we have two types of flat bed laser cutting machines: CO2 and fiber lasers. Fiber can cut copper, brass and aluminium and operates more safely than CO2 because the beam is more readily absorbed and not reflected. Fiber laser operating costs are typically half of what a CO2 system can offer due to the lower electrical consumption and high electrical efficiency of fiber lasers. Fiber laser is also faster than CO2 and more suited to thicker material, whereas CO2 is mainly for non-metal materials such as wood, paper, cardboard, plastic, PMMA, rubber, leather, metals, and ceramics.

With your designs for laser cutting, be careful not to have cutouts or holes smaller than 50% of the sheet metal thickness.  As the laser starts to cut the material, the laser pierces a hole to start cutting and this process can and will affect the accuracy of the feature.

Surface finish
The edge of the laser cut part will have a burnt appearance as it uses extremely high temperatures to cut through the material rapidly. Any untreated part coming from the laser will have some level of dross or slag on the edge of the part and will leave a sharp edge. Customers normally do not wish to recieve parts with this untreated edge so a level of deburring is required to round the edges. This rounding also improves paint and powder cost adhesion and prevents the sharp corner from allowing rust to form in the future.

The edge of the part that has been cut will not have a smooth surface finish like a machined surface and will have a higher roughness average that what can be achieved from a CNC machine.

In order to make a profile of a part, tabs and joints are neeeded. Depending on deburring requirements of the customer these tabs normally need to ground off. This is especially important when wet painting and powder coating.
Tolerance
Laser machines are a CNC controlled machine with high degrees of acccuracy, however the process is not as accurate as a CNC machined component. The typical tolerance achieved by a laser is +\- 0.1mm.

If a tight tolerance hole is required this will either require drilling and reaming or more expensive CNC machining depending on the application and requirements. This will increase the cost of the component.
Programming
Our nesting software and machines take advantage of the latest processes and techniques such as collision avoidance, common line cutting, and fly cutting.
